1966 Volkswagen Bus Rental Added in Virginia

Rent Vintage Car has added this 1966 Volkswagen Bus to its inventory through the USA Movie Cars network. The vehicle is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and gives productions working in the region access to a period-correct van without needing to arrange long-distance transport. Crews filming in Virginia can now consider this option when a 1960s beach or counterculture look fits the story.

Spotlight on this 1966 Volkswagen Bus

The bus shows a restored exterior finished in the factory 1966 color Dove Blue. It rides on the original wheels and hubcaps, keeping the period appearance intact from the outside. Inside, a custom plaid pattern covers the seating surfaces, adding a distinct visual texture that stands out in close shots or when doors are open during a scene.

Producers can use the bus for establishing shots along coastal roads or parked near boardwalks in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The color and simple lines help it blend into 1960s settings while the plaid interior supplies extra detail for dialogue scenes or product placements. Virginia film car coordinators often look for vehicles that read as authentic without requiring heavy set dressing, and this bus meets that need directly.

Rent Vintage Car and the Virginia Picture Car Market

Rent Vintage Car works with USA Movie Cars to connect productions with vehicles already based in Virginia. This arrangement reduces shipping time and cost for crews that land in the state for extended shoots. When a project needs multiple vehicles, the network can pull additional options from nearby listings rather than starting from scratch in another region.

USA Movie Cars works with state picture-car sites such as Virginia Picture Cars to help productions find local picture vehicles. Location managers searching for a Virginia picture car rental can check both the national database and the state-specific site in one workflow. Virginia Beach, Virginia serves as a convenient base for shoots that also require beach or boardwalk access, and having the bus already in that market shortens the search process.

History of the 1966 Volkswagen Bus

The 1966 model year belongs to the second generation of the Volkswagen Transporter line, commonly called the Bus, Kombi, or Type 2. These vans were widely used for commercial delivery, family travel, and later as symbols of the surf and travel culture that grew along both coasts during the decade. The body style remained largely unchanged through the late 1960s, making it easy for productions to place the vehicle in stories set between 1965 and 1970.

The Transporter offered a forward-control layout with the engine in the rear, giving it a distinctive silhouette that still reads immediately as 1960s. Many examples were painted in solid factory colors like the Dove Blue used here, and owners often added personal touches inside. The bus carries those same visual cues today, allowing set decorators to focus on wardrobe and props rather than altering the vehicle itself.

Virginia Picture Car Rental Uses

This bus works well for period scenes set in the late 1960s, whether the story takes place on the coast or in a small town. It can serve as a character vehicle for a musician, traveler, or group of friends, or simply sit in the background to establish the era. Directors shooting music videos often place similar vans near water or open roads to reinforce a carefree mood without additional graphics.

Still photographers and commercial crews can use the bus for branded content that needs vintage texture. The blue exterior and plaid interior give contrast in both daylight and night setups, and the compact size makes it easy to frame in tight locations. Events and content productions in Virginia Beach, Virginia have also used comparable vehicles as photo backdrops or temporary set pieces when a 1960s reference is required.
