History of the 1939 Mercury Coupe

Mercury introduced its first models in 1939 as a mid-range companion to Ford. The coupe body style from that year carries the rounded fenders and upright proportions typical of late-1930s American automobiles. These cars were built during a time when manufacturers were still refining designs before wartime production changes took hold.

The 1939 Mercury Coupe remains a recognizable choice for any scene set in the 1930s. Its four-door layout and classic lines allow it to stand in for both personal and commercial use in period stories. Productions can rely on the vehicle’s general appearance to support wardrobe, set dressing, and set dressing choices that match the decade.
